North Perrott Fruit Farm

North Perrot, Somerset
The first modern apple orchards were planted by Major Hal Hoskyns in 1930 on land that had been in the family since the mid 1700’s. Jonathan is the third generation to manage the farm, which grows apples, pears and fodder crops for neighbouring dairy farmers.
The farm also grows over 100 tonnes of cider apples for the Shepton Cider Mill and a few plums are grown for sale in the farm shop. A significant apple juice business adds value to the fruit that falls short of class one standard. There are also light-industrial lets and a small solar park that produces just enough energy to supply the needs of North Perrott.
North Perrott Farm shop, built in 1970 to sell our own farm produce had, over time, evolved in to an outlet for many local farms and food producers with a cafe and plant centre. It is now an integral part of the local rural infrastructure and plays a central role in our local community and even provides organic milk 24/7 from a local Jersey herd via their Holy Cow vending machine!
