George Paull was a first generation tenant dairy farmer and cattle dealer in the 1940s, and bought Overton Farm at Babcary, Somerset in the early 1960s. Ken and Mary purchased the neighbouring Olive Farm in the late 1960s and now, in its third generation, Dave and Rosie run the combined farms as one unit with 200 hundred milking cows plus young stock.
The cows are pasture fed and, thanks to the new robotic milking machine, can even choose when they want to be milked! Dave says that individual personalities are really shining through with some cows wandering in to the milking parlour on their own whilst others always wander in with their best friend.
The farm has been producing rich, high quality Hurdlebrook yoghurts from award winning Guernsey cows since the early 1980s, with Taste of the West and Royal Bath and West awards.
The farm is currently undergoing the conversion process to become organically certified with the Soil Association
